Bat boxes at Foxcovert Plantation

On Sunday, 25th October, we installed 18 bat boxes at Foxcovert Plantation; a Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust site near Calverton.

An assortment of CJM, standard, Kent and hibernation boxes were installed. We also took the opportunity to survey the bat boxes we had installed last year and see which bat species were utilising them. From ground level, we checked each box using a torch from below and, much to our excitement, we found two brown long-eared (Plecotus auritus) and one pipistrelle (Pipistrellus sp.) occupying 3 of the 15 boxes.

All work was carried out under license and following current government Covid-19 guidelines.
