At last! a female Nathusius’

The picture below shows the first female Nathusius’ caught on the BCT project in Notts . Ladies are ringed on the left and this bat was a hefty 11.8g. We have had two females turn up in the county before – one in a bat box at Attenborough Nature Reserve (2013) and the first a grounded one in Sherwood (2011). All of the ladies have been found / caught in mid-late Sept and early Oct – peak time almost anywhere for movements of this migratory bat species.
