Nathusius’ project update

Nottinghamshire Bat Group has had some more excellent results on the BCT Nathusius’ pipistrelle project this week. We’re now up to 43 captures over the two years to date, with another 2-3 nights of the project still to go this year. Of most interest though is that we’re now starting to see some recaptured bats (five of the 43) as a reward for all the survey effort. For example, this week we had a male recapture at Colwick Country Park from October 2014 who was still looking fine and dandy nearly a year on. Of most interest though is a recaptured male from the five last night at Attenborough Nature Reserve – A4088. This bat had moved well over 10 km south-west from where he was first captured at Colwick Country Park in August…. and probably along the River Trent. Could this coming week be when we see a female…..?
